The Zell am Zee area in the Salzburgland region is sought after due to its location because there are many significant ski resorts in the surroundings. The closest from Furth are two boarding places about 2km far from the apartment. Maiskogel – a boarding cable car that goes up to the Kitzsteinhorn glacier, which thanks to its height (3000m) you can use up to nine months in a year, as well as the Schmittenhohe. In these two areas there are about 61+77km of ski slopes and 18+28 cable cars and ski lifts. It is accessible from Schmittenhohe to one of the largest ski arenas – Skicircus Saalbach - Hinterglemm – Leogang.
In addition to these cable cars, within a short driving distance (up to 30 km), you can visit the Hochkönig area with the Maria Alm and Dienten resorts, family skiing in Rauris, the Saalbach – Hinterglemm – Leogang area or the boarding ski slopes in the Kitzbühel – Pass Thurn area. With a Ski Alpin Card, you can use about 408km of ski slopes and 120 cable cars.
The whole area is very suitable for cross-country skiing – the circuits are situated within walking distance on the Zell am See golf course at a distance of about 2km. The total length of the cross-country trails is over 107km.
For alpine skiing fans this is a paradise for an all-day or afternoon hikes. The Schmittenhohe area is accessible directly from Furth and it offers 24 chalets and restaurants for refreshment.
The largest Spa resorts in Austria – Tauern Spa Kaprun is only about 2km far away or there are several restaurants in the surroundings with Czech cuisine and beer which offers one of the best relaxations in the evening.
In addition to hiking, this area is equally suitable for cycling.
The availability of the Schmittenhöhe and Kitzsteinhorn golf courses is also an advantage.
